Figures show the results this year are broadly in line with previous years.

Five students around the country got the maximum marks available, 8 H1s.

With the results received, the thoughts of many students and their parents will be turning to college.

Helen Kelleher spoke to Lisa Daunt, a guidance counsellor at Kinsale Community College, who says students should stay calm and look at all the available options.

“It is important to look at all the options and seek expert advice so students understand the system and decide what is the best route for their career choice.”

Wealth of choices

For those who did not get the results they wanted, or indeed needed, repeating the Leaving Certificate is probably the first option they will consider.
